Black dog day - and Bobby still seeks his new home

National Black Dog day is 1st October.

Regular readers may recall that a year ago, "Bobby" joined our Billy and Gypsy for a few weeks on foster - but went into rehoming kennels in Lancashire in mid September because he and Billy really weren't getting on, and it was felt that there was a much better chance of him finding a home from there than from a foster home in Melksham.

Since that time, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge ... but not for Bobby who has remained in rescue for a whole year; friends nearby were looking for a dog and he seemed just right, so a call to the kennel and I collected him at the start of last week for a home trial. Alas - he was a little too bouncy and keen, and cutting a long story (well not all that long!) short, he's back with us as the moment.

If anyone has room in there hearts and homes for an active and really loyal, loving, and energetic lurcher - please ask me. There will be all the usual rescue home checks and so on - and if he moves I want this to be his final move to a forever home. If he doesn't move / mellows - then you may find him a bit of a fixture.

Black dogs always seem to "stick" in rescue. Sad fact ... thus the national day. Those of us who know them better call them "black beauties".

It's 10:45 and last hotel guests have just checked in. I had better go home and see if I can find some space between Billy and Bobby, who seems to like sneaking in under the covers when I'm asleep ...
