A Welsh valley - what the transport looks like in 2015

I'm taking the opportunity of two successive weeks in Wales to spend the weekend here - and indeed we've hired a self catering cottage at Cwmgors which costs little different to a hotel for the period of the course. Still at work but in a different setting, and an opportunity to look at "how other do it" - in particular transport links in the valley

The main railway in the valley has been pulled up - and it looks very recent

There's still an old railway - occasional freight perhaps - up a side valley

And this freight line crosses the A474 on a barrierless level crossing

The Amman Valley Railway Society has a charity shop

Tourist signs in Cwmgors hark back to former times, and even some of them are past their "sell by" date

I don't know how often the bus runs - haven't seen one yet, and no timetables

And everyone around here uses cars - except the facilities aren't here to park properly

Sometimes I think we have it bad in Wiltshire - but pockets like this help me realise that we ain't now got it too bad. Having said which, we still have a lot to do.
