The Campus in Melksham - name, logo, and livery choice

What should the new Melksham Campus be called? How should it look and feel? The arts and heritage subgroup of the Community Operations Board took a look at this, with professional help, a year or so back and came to some conclusions about building the community into the whole fabric of the building - with material finishes such as glass etching in the history of Melksham, and floor and wall treatments including prints and inserts that celebrate the heritage but look forward to the future. Discussion was against anything too expensive (best spend on facilities), that's likely to break or be expensive to operate or wear out quickly, and against any big iconic statue. It was in favour of integrating signing and the practical things to help people find their way around within the overall finish. See [here] for the report
With changes to the team on The Campus, and a lead into the contact award being imminent, there's a request to speifically look at name and signage in the the short term, even though the art finish should, it's suggested, be put back until after the contactors are appointed. This will give an undesired disjoint, but I would hope that can be worked around.
Anyway - I'm pointing the arts and heritage subgroup at this post. Mandated by Wiltshire Council on signage and name:
• The name must be [something] Community Campus.
• The font, layout, and aspect ratio of the working and sign is mandated
• There is to be a symbol or logo to represent the campus / area as part of the design
• Each are of the campus is to be designated by its own colour.
The stated reaon for these mandates is to give a consistency across the campuses throughout Wiltshire for groups using more than one of them.
Community input (but advise only; council can overrule) is sought:
• in the name. "Melksham Community Campus" and "Melksham House Community Campus" are favoured. "The Conigre Community Campus" was also suggested, but concern was expressed about people from outside Melksham knowing how to pronounce and / or spell the place.
• in the symbol. Various ideas have been suggested and shown to us, including stag, shield, bridge arches, Melksham House front, Town Hall, bustard, milk churn, tyre. Some have been illustrated and haven't grabbed the COB, others not (yet?) so.
• in the colour used outside - with the provisio that it must work with the area colours.
In theory, the COB will choose two or three ideas that are illustrated by Wiltshire Council for a choice between them to be made at (or a decision made as to how the choice will be made) the area board on 11th February, and the council's experts are putting together examples based on "Melksham" and "Melksham House", and on the front of Melksham House, the Bridge and a Milk churn for logos. HOWEVER ... over the next few days there is spoke for inputs of throughts and brilliant ideas from left field - the request goes out to the arts and heritage group who are already up to speed on much of this but I'm putting in out in public too. Please email me - graham@wellho.net - by Wednesday 21st - if you've got any ideas.
I wish I had a sample of the Wilts Council template to give you an idea - requested but not yet received; ideas to date have been "purely illustrative" and have been returned at the end of meetings. But there IS a chance here, especially for those involved earlier, to have an input and if it catches the heart, it may win the day!
