Four in a Bed - the story continues

On TV again last night - a repeat of our "Four in a Bed" week that first aired just over a year ago. Lisa emailed me to tell me while I was on the Newport to Manchester train, and I spent a happy couple of hours answering incoming emails from people who had been watching the show and were writing to tell us how much they enjoyed it, and they felt we had been cheated out of winning. It's lovely to hear from people and to see real caring, with people saying "I've not written like this before". As it happens (perhaps it did come to clearly from the edit), Lisa and I are fairly laid back and what you saw on the show was a concentration of the extremes - our extremes of just sitting there (while other contestants sprang to our defence, which we loved) and other who were - well, both out to help the producers make a very interesting week, and naturally folks who have a very different philosophy to ours.

There weren't really all that many emails - just that I took most of the journey to answer each individually, and that takes time. Quite a lot of hits on the web site, I see this morning:

A year on, people ask if the show's filled our rooms. Not really; our steady progress through 2013 was partly fuelled by the show for sure, but also very much by other marketing, and by the excellent service our team's provided to guests which means they keep coming back. We try not to over-sell as we really don't want people phoning and asking just to be turned away - and that means that usually (as of now) we're full for tomorrow night, but then have vacancies - one at least - for several months ahead. Love to see you!
