Really good friends - four in a bed!

We've made some really good friends through "Four in a Bed" - not only has it introduced us to a few new guests, but it's also been an ice-breaker in Melksham as people feel they know us a bit better now. And we get on so well with many of the other "contribs" - contributors, or hotel / B&B owners.

A few weeks after our show, the series visited Wizard's Thatch in Alderly Edge, Northrise Lodge in Hastings, and Blackpool, and Deal in Kent. And late last week, Ali and Ian, Andrea and Nick popped in to see us at Well House Manor; they're busy at weekends, quieter during the termtime week, and we taking a few days break in Bath when they saw the "Melksham" sign.

Lovely people... a quick drop in lasted until the sun was going down, as we all chatted about our experiences on the show, and shared tips and techniques that we've all learned in running our very different places. We already knew from our own show that the editing leaves out a great deal, and at times can caricature and we knew how the production team are past masters at helping to make eventful TV. And - just like two of the other couples on our week, Nick and Andrea, and Ian and Ali are the sweetest people you can meet and you can just tell how much heart they put into their places. Wizards's Thatch was clearly unique when shown on TV - already on our "must stay" list... if (of course) we can get in; their phone rang off the hook after the show. Northrise lodge is rather more mainstream, but you can be sure that if I'm ever going to be training in or near Plymouth, that's were I'll stay. Holiday stop? I would thoroughly recommend it, site unseen... but it's not the place for our dogs Billy and Gypsy.

Come November, we're off to spend a few days end-of-season with another contestant - and that's a get-together of around half a dozen groups. I'm really looking forward to meeting more "contribs" who we're in touch with online and who (with few exceptions) are the sweetest people around, whatever the TV might have shown!

P.S. Yes - we ARE open for Cream Teas every day; please phone to book if you've got a group of more than 8 coming so we can ensure we have enough freshly baked scones.
