Melksham to Chippenham (Station) bus services - times and routes

I welcome the recent improvement in bus services between Chippenham and Melksham on Monday to Friday during the day. I think it's a great pity that the opportunity of a new timetable was not taken to space out the buses more evenly. Almost inevitably the buses run at least half empty, (the 15:13 and 15:17, which I used an saw last week certainly do), and with a regular timetable, more people would be tempted to use them to the benefit of BOTH bus companies and of the travelling public.
An update on bus services from Melksham to and from Chippenham STATION for longer distance rail connections This is correct as of 1st March 2013 but can be changed with just six weeks notice. Check back with the bus operators before travelling!

There are other daytime buses from Melksham to Chippenham BUS station - on the opposite side of Chippenham to the train. The combined service is 3 buses per hour duringthe day on Monday to Friday, and one bus per hour on Saturday.
Tickets are NOT transferrable between operators, except that Farsaver return halves may be used on evening buses operated by First.
Fares differ. The cheapest way to go is the train, secon cheapest the First bus, and Faresaver most expensive at 4 pounds single.
For a group of 4, it's almost as cheap to get a taxi from the rank at Chippenham Station or Melksham Market Place.
