"I'll be back in about a month - see you then" - and a cheerful wave from a departing guest. That's lovely - customers voting for us with their feet, and not unusual.
Mr "X", shall we call him, had booked late yesterday - so late, in fact, that his booking was long after most offices had closed. And his 8 p.m. arrival forecast was replaced by a forecast of midnight in a follow up call. Which meant a rapid rescheduling of our plans to ensure that someone was on hand to give him a warm welcome; clearly, he was having a day that was unplanned-long, and he would want a smile, a swift passage through reception, and one of our team to help with any quick needs.
His arrival was, indeed, a few minutes after midnight. For many hotel, that's an issue ... for us, we've always got IT work to do and any hour of the day or night is as good as any other. I checked him in, and stayed around for half an hour thereafter, largely because I was finishing up filtering some images. This is one of the capabilities we have which makes us especially suited to busy business visitors, late arrivals, early departures.
I look forward to seeing Mr X again towards the end of March; most visitors who come for a first time and have to visit the area again return to us, and that's great. We've got full nights during each of the upcoming weeks ... though plenty of availability at weekends at this time of you. Love to see you if you're looking to stay in Melksham ;-)
