Annual Accounts - a big job for a small business

Paperwork and Company Accounts ... Lisa's been working hard and the files have gone to the accountants. I dropped them off there earlier this week, a box so heavy that the receptionist called for a more muscular colleague to take them where they had to go.

The amount of admin and bookkeeping, the number of rules to follow and taxes to calculate and pay, when running a small business has to be seen to be believed. Even before we had a team of staff, and when we were just doing training, the workload was ten times what we liked. Now - with the hotel added, and cafe too, and events. Now with a team of staff (accounting not only for their price, but also their hours and holidays with complex rules), the workload has gone up a hundredfold from being Mom & Pop working from home.

There's no conculsion from this post - except to marvel at Lisa's checking off (on so many sheets in these folders) every line item over the year, adding in chits for every morning's papers, and wondering at how anyone bigger than us can possibly cope with this.
