Last Septmeber, Well House Manor was recorded for the "Four in a Bed" series on Channel 4, where 4 different sets of hotel / B&B owners go round, visit each others establishments, critically review, and pay just what they think each of the places is worth for their overnight stay. With a wide variety of places each week, it makes for an interesting program that showcases different types of accommodation and parts of the country, and brings the type of guests who wouldn't normally choose to stay with us - all of which makes for good TV.
We had great fun in the first part of our "experience" in September, and we learned a lot. And - coming up this week - it's the second part of the experience. For the show's being aired on Monday through Friday afternoons at 5 p.m. on Channel 4, and we'll see for the first time how we've been edited, and what was said behind our backs.
We expect nothing - just a good fun show to watch and enjoy. But we've been altered to be prepared for everything. We're told that we may get a lot of web traffic, phone calls, bookings from people who like the look of what they see and want to come, sample a weekend in Wiltshire and see Melksham and the surrounding area. And that's good. But we're also aware that some of the things revealed during the show may take us by surprise, and not be totally positive; much of that's in the editor's cut, and "Four in a Bed" doesn't strike us as being as brusquely overdubbed as "Come Dine with Me" where, frankly, the contributors are made fun of.
There are also forums that discuss the TV show, and (we are told) there may be some of the less welcome trappings of "fame". Forum wise / email wise, I feel reasonably confident in handling whatever may hit, though I wouldn't be surprised at a couple of worrisome issues and a few sleepless nights. Let's see - onwards and upwards for next week's adventure, whatever it might bring!
