Town Clean - Melksham

It poured with rain this morning, and then the sun came out for the Town Tidy.

To the tune of "the twelve days of Christmas"
• Three unlet shop's windows clean
• Two bus shelters washed
• And a memorial garden cleaned in a Riverside Park.

Ian and I got the section by the Town Bridge - here he is cleaning the bus shelter while I take a photobreak from picking up fag ends, takeaway polystyrene, beer cans, sweet wrappers and the rest.

The pile of bags back outside Melksham Town Hall at the end of the day.

Part of the team pauses for pictures.

And after pictures, it's into the Committee Room for coffee and scones, and a chat.

Twenty volunteers... and a lot of work done. Five people I see regularly at the Melksham Chamber of Commerce meeting... but rather curiously not a single shopkeeper as far as I know from the area that we were cleaning. Let's hope that the shopkeepers take over now that we've got them started; shouldn't be too hard as that must have been months of mud on the bus shelters.
