They say that Christmas planning comes earlier and earlier each year and indeed earlier today - 15th June and even before the longest day - I have been asked a couple of questions

Well House Manor will be open over Christmas, as we have for the last couple of years. Our quiet hotel provides an ideal base for adults who are visiting their friends and family in the Melksham area over Christmas and the new year, remaining open thoughout the period. We're not going to be running any special events - very much "service as normal" so you can make your own plans in the area. And our rates will remain £95.00 (double occupancy) and £85.00 (single occupancy). Online bookings are open into January 2013, or phone us up if you prefer.

P.S. "Service as normal" means unlimited internet included, large screen TVs in all the rooms, superior continental breakfast for all guests, complimentary teas, coffees and soft drinks available 24, 7, early and late arrivals welcome (including checkins / checkouts on Christmas day) ...

The evening meeting of the Melksham Railway Development Group set the date for this year's Santa trip by train from Melksham to Swindon and back as Sunday, 2nd December. Engineering works allowing (and that will be checked over the next few weeks), Santa will be on the 17:35 from Melksham to Swindon train, with presents for children (prebook, please, via the Tourist Information from October).

This may well be the last year that the Santa trip runs in its current form. For, next April, there will be a new franchise and that may well specify a different service - much better, we hope - and we'll probably have additional flexibility which will allow us to provide more, and more attractive options for trips out from Melksham. There's just an element of chance that the Sunday evening option - all we have at present - will disappear, as it's one service more than even the current specification. But ... let's take the opportunity in December to remind the world that Melksham needs its train. Updates via the TransWilts web site - [here]
