The five oldest blogs and the horses mouth

I think she's a little surprised at how long I've been writing. But of course longevity isn't everything - there's width and quality of content too. So I took a look at the five.
10,000 Birds. Wow - I didn't realise there were so many types of birds, and many of them are pictured here, with the blog running at several new posts per day. http://10000birds.com/Rebecca's Pocket lists books. But seems to have been patchier over the years, and perhaps switched off updating a month or two back. Who knows - Rebecca may just be taking a well earned holiday after 8 years, and be back soon. http://www.rebeccablood.net/
Secondary School education still finds something to say about - err - Secondary School education every week or so. Short articles, and I don't personally find the interest as the wow factor that 10,000 birds still has on every page. But then this is much more a supporting blog. http://712educators.about.com/
80s Music is another about.com blog - postings dripping in every few days. Alas, with obits for Donna Summer and Bob Welch both in the front page lineup still, the blog seems to be looking back and dying out, literally. http://80music.about.com/
A whole lot of nothing. Matt Haughey's latest article, 10 days ago, and talks about his pharmaceutical regime. There's film reviews, obits, indeed it matches the label on the can - "a whole lot of nothing", or rather no special subject. http://a.wholelottanothing.org/
The Horse's Mouth is young when compared to these which started in 2003; the first post on "The Mouth" was as late as August 2004 - you can see the archive [here] from that month. This will be article 3759 - that's more than one per day - and much of the content is read and re-read by people doing technical searches. Have a look [here] to see which archive pages people landed on yesterday, and how many times. Although the IT business is a fast moving ones, sample programs and "How to"s in programming don't change very much, after all. If they did, programs would have an awful short shelflife ...
