You will have seen the longest gap so far - I think - in this blog over this week. That's not lack of interest, but rather a lack of time and energy after everything else.

On Monday, as a member of the Melksham SCOB (see http://www.melkshamcampus-scob.org.uk/) I went to Chippenham's Riverside Centre to look and learn in the morning, followed by a trip beyond Radstock in the afternoon talking about PHP training and a long evening getting in touch with people in the final week of the rail franchise consultation. And that really set the tone for the week, with a three day course to present, Chamber of Commerce, SCOB at Canberra, and my University course on the following three evenings - got back at a quarter to midnight last night from London. It may sound like I'm moaning, but I love being busy!.

The response to the Great Western Franchise consultation - that's the important one that's got the potential to influence the next 15 years of train services in these parts - is due in by the end of the month. That's closing day tomorrow, or indeed that's just closed for "office types" who finish at 5 on Friday and don't start again until 9 on Monday. So it was monumentally poor timing for the bidders short list, and the railway usage figures, station by station for the UK, to be published just yesterday. Gave people just 24 hours to read, digest, update submissions (if need be) ...

Well House Manor / Well House Consultants response has now gone, and I can take an evening off. Our response is at [here]. So much written on the subject - by so many people - that I won't add long quotes here.

A lovely evening .... I'm off to walk the dogs ...
