Ginkgo Projects have selected film maker Verity-Jane Keefe to make a film relating to the new development on the land to the East of Melksham - [details]. Verity-Jane was in Melksham today, and I joined her for a walk around some of the new housing area. Here's a selection of the pictures taken:

Verity-Jane is leading two further walks (on Saturday 17th March), the first of which starts at The Spa, just off the Devizes Road. See her blog for timing details which will be posted on 11th March.

It's startling to thing that these pictures were taken on what were open fields just a year or two ago. Already, many of the houses are occupied even though there's still construction next door, and as the whole group of us walked (16 legs!) we discussed subjects like why there was the need for so much more housing, how much of the countryside it's taking up, build quality, measures taken to add variety and interest to the area, street names, where their "local" would be, and much more.

If these pictures are small (450px), clicking [here] will make them larger.
