Making best use of the new enthusiasm for Melksham

Wanted - keen, enthusiastic people to drive Melksham forward into the future. And wanted - those people working together to make us a better community in terms of success, prosperity, greenness, life quality, enjoyability. We have a lot of enthusiastic people and I'm delighted to read in various local papers of a new keen bunch - Melksham's retail traders who we've found hard to engage at the Chamber of Commerce. It's not a time to look back as to why we've found it so hard to engage (though we can take comfort in the fact that this isn't a "Melksham Only" issue. It's a time to look forward to the future.

This evening, I walked through the town to deliver an open letter to the key players who are co-ordinating the Melksham Independent Retailers, encouraging them to work with the other enthusiasts for common goals. For sure, we need healthy discussions to set those common goals - but that's discussions and not secrecy with us all pulling enthusiastically in different directions and pulling Melksham apart. I do hope that everyone can embrace this wish and take it forward as suggested in the open letter - [here].
