Where do businessmen stay in Melksham?

I've just been reviewing hotel bookings for the next 20 nights, and we're booked to 58% of capacity. 4 nights, including tonight and this Friday are completely full; 2 nights, both further ahead, are yet to take their first booking.

Am I happy with these figures? Yes - very much so. We've got hotel rooms available for delegates who make late bookings on Learning to program in Tcl and Tcl Programming, both of which run next week, and for the Ruby courses from 5th September and Python courses from 12th September. And we've got rooms available for our regular business hotel guests too.

The black and white illustration with this article is for the local newspaper - a gentle reminder that we're an excellent base for business visitors to the town. More marketing than sales - in other words keeping us visible and known about for the medium term, rather than pushing to increase that 58% for 20 days figure up much higher. For just as there is little point in having lots of empty rooms, there is equally little point in generating so many enquiries that we're turning people away all the time. And with just five rooms, "full" and "empty" can feel very close to each other at times!
