Extra trains are running on the TransWilts line early on Sunday mornings in July and August, and on certain dates other activities are being arranged in conjunction with them allowing for the following days out ...

Sundays 3rd July and 17th July to 28th August 2011

From Swindon

- leave by train at 08:20
- to Weymouth, arriving there at 10:42.
- Return train leaves at 17:56,arriving in Swindon at 20:21
- Return fare, 15.60 (adult), 7.80 (child).
- GroupSave tickets allow 3 or 4 adults to travel for the price of 2, with Children 1 pound each

- leave by train at 08:20
- to Salisbury, arriving there at 10:32 (Change at Westbury, arrive 09:06, leave 09:59)
- Return train leaves at 16:38, arriving in Swindon at 17:56 (change at Westbury, arrive 16:56, leave 17:10)
- Alternative return train from Salisbury at 18:28, arriving Swindon at 20:21 (Westbury change - 18:55 to 19:35)
- Buy an offpeak day return, Swindon to Melksham and an offpeak day return Melksham to Salisbury - 17.30 (adult) in total; no day return fare available Swindon to Salisbury.

- Stonehenge and Old Sarum tour bus leaves Salisbury Station every half hour - extra cost, no need to book

- Kennet and Avon Canal Walk via Semington to Seend, Sells Green, Devizes
- See Semington locks and aquaduct and (on full walk) Caen Hill Locks. 6 to 11 miles.
- Catch bus 272 back from Devizes at 18:29 to Melksham Station for 19:52 train to Swindon
- Arrive back in Swindon at 20:20
- Bus also calls at Sells Green and Seend (Road end) for shorter walkers after it leaves Devizes
- Alternative us from Devizes at 16:29, via Sells Green and Seend Road End connects at Melksham for Swindon at 17:56
- Buy offpeak return tickets Swindon to Melksham (6 pounds) and Melksham to Trowbridge single (3.10)

- from Pewsey by train at 19:09 to Swindon (change at Westbury, arrive there at 19:28, leave at 19:35)
- Arrive in Swindon at 20:21
- Return fare, 21.00 adult, 10.50 Children (superoffpeak return, Swindon to Bedwyn)

- Back at Melksham station at 17:15 for the 17:25 train to Swindon (arrive 17:56)

- leave by train at 08:20
- to Minehead. One for the transport enthusiast!
- Change at Westbury arr 09:06 to Intercity express leaving at 10:25
- Change at Taunton arr 11:01 to No. 28 bus leaving at 11:28
- Change at Bishop's Lydiard arr 11:46 to steam train leaving at 12:30
- Arrive at Minehead at 13:48.
- Same changed on way back, leaving Minehead at 16:05 for 20:21 Swindon arrival.

General Stuff

All train tickets may be purchased at any manned station, online, or from authorised rail ticket agents, at normal train ticket prices.

All bus and coach tickets may be purchased from 1st July from Trowbridge Tourist Information Centre. The Trowbridge TIC is also an authorised rail ticket agent, so that can sell you the tickets for the whole day. Their phone number is 01225 710535, and their email address is tic@trowbridge.gov.uk .

The buffet at Westbury opens at 09:00 on Sunday mornings if you're changing there for Salisbury, Taunton or Exeter.

Dogs and bicycles travel free when accompanied. Note that cycle accommodation on trains is very limited.
