This table was checked against signage earlier today (1st May 2011) and lists public car parks and marked roadside spaces in the town. It does not include private supermarket car parks (at some of which you may be able to park and walk into town) nor does it include any roadside parking where spaces are not marked.

Are you upset at the loss of free parking in Church Street Car Park, and threatening to drive to another town to shop? Please DON'T. Shopping in Melksham helps Melksham's traders and it help YOU as those traders continue to employ people and spend their own money in the town - 36p in the pound recirculates.. If you shop in another town, you're spending far more on petrol getting there, putting money into their town, and (if you park in the town centre) still paying parking fees to Wiltshire Council!

Disabled badge holders may park for up to 3 hours free of charge in specially reserved spaces in the Wiltshire Council car parks, and for an unlimited period at the station while using the train.

Don't forget that there are marked parking spaces on Bath Road on both sides of the river Avon, including in the cul-de-sac up to the underpass to the station.

As well as paying in the car park (cash, on arrival, no change give), you may pay via text message or by calling an 0845 number which is displayed in each Wiltshire Council car park. Beware that 0845 numbers are not generally includes within your "free minutes" mobile phone package, and you're likely to be paying around 20p per minute while phoning in addition to the parking charge. However, the convenience may suit you.
