Come as a customer, leave as a friend - Well House Manor, Hotel, Wiltshire

Easter Morning - breakfast for guests at Well House Manor. Afternoon - a walk down to the Kennet and Avon Canal (loads more pictures to follow).

"Come as a customer, leave as a friend." It's a long drive from Rosyth to Melksham. And the last thing you want when you arrive is to find that your accommodation isn't available. "D" and "C" - and dog in tow too - arrived tired at at another establishment to learn that there was a problem with their room there. Full marks to the other place - they had phoned through to us and reserved a room, and redirected D and C to us. Yes - they had twisted our arm about the dog ;-) (wasn't all that hard a twist this weekend).

"Can I bring you a cup of tea up?" Something told me that the "help yourself, anytime" line was better left for later in this case, and our guests settled in. Gypsy was with me, and took care of Cleo - a romp in the garden for both dogs left them tired, and customers drift toward friendship.

I enjoyed - really enjoyed - breakfast this morning. A pleasure to provide food, to talk about accounting and work in Edinburgh (and a bit of Open Source as it happens) ... and to listen to talk of canal holidays to Llangollen and on the Rochdale Canal from Sowerby Bridge.

Our friends headed out after breakfast. They took a Longleat brochure. And I rather suspect they'll be back sometime. This time booking direct. They took a Well House Manor brochure too.

We're 2 miles from the Kennet and Avon Canal. We're about 10 miles from Longleat. Most of our marketing concentrated on courses and weekday business hotel guests, so we've usually got good weekend availability. Come stay with us - see a lovely new county, and make some new friends. See [here] for the hotel website and [here] for pictures of a walk down to the canal
