Around and about Melksham in more pictures

Yesterday, I took a walk around Melksham, and I took a whole lot of pictures. Most show features that may not have been photographed very often - for the record, if you like, and for giving thought to where the town may be in a number of years time. This "headline" picture shows equipment in the skateboard park, which is to the side of the King Geroge V field, and in the background (across the river) you can see an office block at Cooper Tires - our town centre factory.

There are areas in Melksham - some surprisingly close to the centre - which don't give the appearance of being particularly used or serving much purpose. I wonder how many local people can place where this picture was taken?

It was also a good opportunity to take pictures where things are changing - there are town centre pictures in my series of pictures, and this picture shows the new Asda store under construction, wit continuing works on the associated roads. You can see a full slideshow of the pictures taken on the walk (at least the showable ones) [here], or if you prefer to cherry pick, you can start from the index page [here].

I'll teach you how to write a script to do a slide show like this on our PHP courses (we have one scheduled next week!).

One of the important things when you write code is to make it recyclclable ... and indeed the PHP script behind this slide show is recyclable. There's another slide show - showing off Melksham for our French twinning town - [here]. Perhaps "recylablable" isn't the right word as it implies a previous and past use ... but the original picture set is very much a current slidewhow too. I should have used words like "sustainable" and "efficient" coding. We've been teaching such things for YEARS, even if the world is only just waking up to the fact that green is also good for business!
