The village of Whaddon lines about 3 miles on foot from Melksham... or more than twice that by road. It's at the end of a dead end lane from Hilperton in Trowbridge... and comprises a mixture of old farms, and well tended dwellings with (it sometimes seems) a dog barking at each gate. There's a rich array of footpaths in and out of the village, and a tiny church with just the occasional service held there.
Pictured - a derelict pigsty from one of the public tracks that seem to radiate out in all directions from the village.
Last weekend, my dog, Gypsy and I walked along the canal that passes about half a mile to the south, then looped back alongside the river Avon and through the village - ending up with a whole stream of pictures. Some of the better ones are now online - a collection called "Whaddon" via [here].
