Looking back at www.wellho.net

It's truely amazing just how much historic information you can find online these days if you want to - that's Internet historc data; by contrast it can be very hard to look back prior to the days of The Web in some areas - you just try putting together a table of London to Manchester train fares and how they have risen over the last 50 years.

I've been looking back - using the Way Back machine - at our web site over the past ten years.

Those are images / captures of our front page from 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, and a present day capture (2011). I'm seeing a gentle increase in subjects offered, an increasing movement from an advert to an informational front page, and a development forward of our product. What the screen captures don't show you is the build up of resources behind the site - we've now got so many pages, nor the development of traffic. But is *has* been significant; I can remember the days when we would worry when our server traffic log file exceeded 10 Mbytes per day - last week, it was over 40 Mbytes every day until friday when as usual it dropped a bit (Friday is P.O.E.T.S day - Piss off early, tomorrow's Saturday!)

Click on any of the images if you would like to see it full size. They are just screen captures - you won't be able to follow links, but you'll see just how visible the past remains.
