Burger me!

I have Simon, seated in the back of this picture, to thank for the subject line. We've been doing Linux Basics today - the first day of our four day Deploying LAMP course, and for lunch we took a five minute walk out to "The Tavern". There's a good selection there at lunchtime, service is fairly fast, food is hot and the staff are helpful. Oh - and it's no longer smokey like it was when we first moved to the town.

One of the other requirements at lunchtime is somewhere that people can eat sensibly / light so that they can concentrate in the afternoon .... but equally somewhere they can feed well if they're gannets and it's there main meal of the day. And we'll go somewhere different each day, to provide more variety than we could provide ourselves or with any single supplier.

This is Vitor's "triple whammie" burger. Three 8 ounce burgers in a roll ... I do alert people to this monster ahead of time, and I've not seen anyone finish one before ... but, bar the bread, Vitor did. And it's now 18:00 and he's wondering where to eat this evening.

We provide lunch for all delegates on our courses. For delegates who book residential, we also provide breakfast too - leaving only the evening meal as an extra expense. Booking the whole package in this way is a great convenience to many organizations, and it also means that the folks on the course get to stay together, to talk Linux (or Perl or PHP ...) overnight, and to be convenient for lessons each morning rather than have to cross the town to some countryside hotel where they'll be the only delegate. This works especially well for visitors from overseas - and we can even arrange airport pickups for them making our courses a true "one stop shop".
