Level playing fields, job vacancies, lemons and peaches

Keeping a level playing field, and keeping personal data confidential, preclude me from writing more than a few generalities about some of the interesting way things unfolded when I posted up a week ago that we're looking for help - a.k.a. a sort of job vacancy. Over the past few days, I've heard from (and met with) a number of "interested parties".

I told Xxxxxx that I would be at "The Manor" this afternoon until 3 setting up systems for this week's Lua course and that (s)he was welcome to pop in and chat through what we've got on offer; it was a positive conversation, so a no-show would be disappointing and telling. My system preps went very well - what takes a long time when you first do it becomes an efficient routine in time, and I found myself checking out laptops, boxing them up (I'm onsite for this course), and then even with time to write a quick update here.

The vacancy is still open. [link]. I'm making sure that I give people plenty of time to read what we're looking for - to ensure that we get the best person / people helping whether they see it early or late, whether they jump straight in and get in touch while the iron is hot, or come in with a more considered approach once they've checked whether it's practical for them and worked out logistics with family.

So - you can still email me if you're interested. I'm expecting that when I'm back in town - next Thursday - I may be meeting with one or two more folks - and then I'll be in a position to evaluate, compare, and decide with whom I think we have the best fit. I'm actually quite confident that I've met a couple of peaches, as well as a couple of lemons - but that's my slanted view as to how they would fit in with us. And I'm reminded that lemon meringue pie is really tasty, and you can't make it with peaches.
