I remember at school, during French dictation, trying to write the complex word "viagule" which the teacher seemed to be talking about all the time. And loosing so many marks, because it turned out to be the french for a comma ,,,,, ....

Yesterday, I was talking about the & character - the Ampersand - here in Germany, and we paused for a couple of minutes to sort out just what it's called here. It's the "Mechant's And" or the Kaufmannsund - and I confirm that I learn something new every day.

Should I have feared needing to train in Germany (in German?). No - as I rode in the German taxi back to the hotel last night, I was with delegates from South Africa, Spain and Italy ... truly, the world of Open Source is now multinational, and I feel at comfort almost anywhere.
