The Countryside isn't in a natural state - it's every much as artificial in how it looks as any town - and that's brought home at this time of year by the young crops in the fields - when you think on it, Melksham is set within a great industrial / commercial food growing area.
The larger farms (pictured top) are mixed with small holdings - raising sheep, chickens or (in the second picture) ducks - taken within a few yards of our home.
We're fortunate to be able to walk out and enjoy the fresh air within this pretty industry - although the grass crop on this field up towards Snarleton Lane is probably the last, as the area around is already being developed - the houses of "East Melksham" are being built as you may have seen from earlier articles.
