It looks to be a quiet day at the Lincoln memorial, looking up the Reflecting pool to the Washington Monument.
But the it's a lovely spring day, and there are rather more people around
In fact there are so many people around that the park guards are out keeping an eye on things.
I find it interesting how a different atmosphere can be created with three pictures, all views of the Washington Monument from the Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC. taken (by me) yesterday within a minute of one another.
For comparison, this is very much the head on / classic view from the picture postcards ...
... and I like this type of shot - taken from just inside the Lincoln Memorial and looking out, up the Reflecting Pool.
Yesterday afternoon, I took a walk across from Arlington across the Potomac into Washington DC, up part of the Mall and across to L'Enfant Plaza. An opportunity to fill the lungs with fresh air, stretch the legs, and take photographs. Goodness only know what I'll do with all the pictures (!) but there are certainly some scenes which cannot help but be beautiful, and which are truly thought provoking.
