Suddenly, we've move from a bleak, cold and bare winter to Spring - and today was lovely Spring day. A morning of catching up on the TransWilts meeting of yesterday, then a chance to get out in the afternoon. Here, on the bridge over Semington Brook near Waddon is a twitcher that we met; I certainly saw some bird life around, but then with a dog in tow (or to be more accurate, "in the lead") I expect all the more timid stuff was in the next county before we got close.
But certain of the birds weren't to be put off by the mere presence of people and a dog - here swans on the Avon - but this is the Bristol Avon, close by Melksham.
What a lovely walk - from Melksham via Broughton Gifford down to the Pack Horse Bridge, up to Waddon and then the Kennet and Avon Canal, to be followed as a green strip into Trowbridge. Perhaps we should give such walks a little more publicity.
