Bright day, snowy day

We're just half a dozen days into the new year, and already I can show you a contrast is pictures ... of the hotel and training centre, and of our home / HQ (that latter being a semi, and not the whole building!

It was predicted that last night would end with us a foot deep in snow - that turned out not to be the case, but we still ended up with guests who booked at the last minute rather than travel to Melksham this morning, and we also ended up with Melksham's train service being suspended and having to drive people out to Trowbridge (an odd one that - in days gone by, it was the train that got through). A presentation at Melksham's Police HQ for tonight has been called off, and the regular Friday morning networking breakfast at Well House Manor has been postponed by the organizers too, both heeding police advise "don't travel unless you have to".

Tomorrow's deploying Apache http server and Tomcat is going ahead, as are the courses that start on Sunday for newcomers to programming who want to learn C and C++ and on Monday for existing programmers who need to learn C and perhaps C++.

It feels quiet ... no-one ever books courses or business trips for the new year before they go away for Christmas ... and yet there are significant enquiry emails popping in occasionally, and that's really what we need; we're not in a mass market with our courses, so if they were flooding in, we would be flooded out. But I had best go off and answer a few.
